Yellow Capsicum ‘Amigo Gold’ – Capsicum annuum
20 seeds
These Yellow capsicums are big, sweet and tasty. Some of my plants are 3 years old and are still producing huge abundant fruits. I have to protect my capsicum plants from fruitfly with netting.
However, I do grow 4 types of capsicums in my vege patch, and the yellow ones are the weakest. For some reason the yellow ones are susceptible to disease, rot and bugs, way more so than the others. Suggesting to me that this breed is not a heirloom variety, and has only been around briefly, it may be a cross between capsicum ‘gold’ and capsicum ‘long’. So, while I collect seeds from the best ones each year in order to breed up this yellow one, it will take some generations for that to happen. I suggest you do the same, only save seeds from the very best capsicum of that year.
I have found these yellow ones are also polyembryonic and hence true to the yellow type – they just need a slight improvement.
Sow spring and summer, full sun and water and fertilize for best results.
For most seeds (unless otherwise stated): Sow Spring – Lightly cover and keep moist until germination – best to do in the hot before a rain event. Grow seedling over the spring/summer in shade house with ideal conditions, then plant out autumn with occasional watering for the first 2 years.
Seeds are usually collected from tree/plant shown in photo, these capsicum seeds were collected from plants growing at Gunnedah, NSW. Happy to answer any questions you may have.
My business mission: is to provide backyard owners with seed of Australian Native plants, in particular ornamental species, with aesthetic attributes, to create good vibes and a sense of peace.
Feel free to upload or send me any photos of any plants that you have grown from my seed – always interested to know the offspring flower colour.
And my seller promise; if you purchase from me, I will send it to you.
I use recycled packaging. And I make a note of sending more seeds than stated in page listing. Plus, I’m a definite advocate for ‘organics’ as much as possible, there are no pesticides at my place!
